IUBMB Enzyme Nomenclature

Accepted name: adenosine-phosphate deaminase

Reaction: (1) AMP + H2O = IMP + NH3
(2) ADP + H2O = IDP + NH3
(3) ATP + H2O = ITP + NH3

Glossary: IMP = inosine 5'-phosphate
AMP = adenosine 5'-phosphate

Other name(s): adenylate deaminase; adenine nucleotide deaminase; adenosine (phosphate) deaminase

Systematic name: adenosine-phosphate aminohydrolase

Comments: Acts on AMP, ADP, ATP, NAD+ and adenosine, in decreasing order of activity. The bacterial enzyme can also accept the deoxy derivatives. cf. EC, AMP deaminase.
