Lipoyl Group

This group is normally a substituent on N6 of a lysine residue of an enzyme or other protein.

Systematic name: 5-[(3R)-1,2-dithiolan-3-yl]pentanoyl

Example: lipoamide = lipoyl-NH2

Dihydrolipoyl group

This group is normally a substituent on N6 of a lysine residue of an enzyme or other protein.

Systematic name: (6R)-6,8-disulfanyloctanoyl

Example: dihydrolipoamide = dihydrolipoyl-NH2
